No questions asked, no money needed at 24/7 naloxone vending machine coming to Denton’s Rubber Gloves | State | brenhambanner.com
Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios, at 411 E. Sycamore St., will soon be the site of a 24-hour vending machine that will dispense free naloxone to anyone who wants to keep it on hand.
In April, a teen survived an opioid overdose during a show at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios thanks to the quick response of staff and a patron who recognized the signs of an overdose and administered Narcan, a nasal spray that rapidly reverses the effects of a life-threatening opioid emergency, the Rubber Gloves team wrote in on social media April 17.
“This was a wake up call,” Rubber Gloves’ Facebook post says. “It is impossible for us to ensure that certain drugs do not make their way into our club and into patrons’ hands. It is especially difficult and dangerous for young people who do not know the gravity of certain personal decisions.”
